For starters, how about why our schools exist to begin with. Good eating education should not be left in the Health class, just to introduce the students to ideas like catsup is a veggie serving.
Then we move on to the health of our children. Over weight, pre-diabetic, nutritional deficiencies, and increasing high blood pressure.
Then, we have to acknowledge that a hot nutritious lunch may be the only good meal of the day for many of our kids.

How about the obvious one: There is a huge number of obese kids in our country. Two elementary schools just did a study on this and found that the obesity number dropped quite a bit when they got rid of pop, junk food, etc.. Yahoo just did a story on it - search the internet for it.

Another one, harder to prove though: Parents are so busy that it is more convenient to feed kids the fast foods, etc, go to dinner, etc….so it is helpful that kids will get educated on the good and bad foods in school as well as at home. Preventative measures for the rest of their lives and all..
