The Couples in White Dress Shirts in the Snow
“My Memory” is an OST of a Korean drama series that tells the tale of two lovers. Winter Sonata is one of the songs that I love to listen to as I lie on my bed pouring my kaleidoscopic thoughts out into writing. I usually writer articles, stories and poems everyday just to express my inner emotions, and sometimes, for work-related purposes, too.
One of the things I couldn’t get out of my mind while listening to this song is what the couples usually wear — white custom dress shirts. As I feel the soft, romantic and emotional rhythm of the accompanying violin which dominates all the other musical instrument, I couldn’t help thinking of a man in all white attire – white long sleeved mens dress shirts showing under the thick white fur coat and a pair or white pants — standing on the snow as he watch the woman he loves. They usually wear white dress shirts since it’s both their favorite color. Being surround by the quiteness of the shade of white, they feel so calm and neat in their white attire, as well.
I don’t entirely understand the meaning of the words sung by the musician, but the ambience of the whole song tells me of different emotions that evoke pain and longingness of the two lovers. The song whispers about a love that longs to be reunited and free from bondage.
The song “My Memory” really soothes my mind and relaxes my emotions. Its pleasant and soft-flowing rhythm and melody gives me inspiration in coming up with creative thoughts as I sew them into sentimental and practical words. These expressions flow continuously as I listen to the relaxing rhythm of the musical instruments of the song as they accompanied the baritone sound of the vocalist.
Upon listening to the song, the pictures of the two lovers in the drama couldn’t escape my thoughts many time. Especially the scenes when they fell for each other in their secondary years. However, they where separated by a tragic accident when the guy had amnesia after a vehicular accident that happened on a New Year’s Eve. The lovers were reunited after a few years when both of them each have their own work already, but the guy couldn’t remember anything about the girl anymore after he left with his mother to America for his total recovery. The drama made me cry many times because of its twist and turns.
