The rationale of we are living under grace and the dietary laws don't apply to us should be made into a bumper sticker next to wide load...

The Temple was desecrated by the Romans sacrificing a pig on the Holy Altar...the unclean was in the Holy temple and made the temple unclean...

eating anything and everything that crawls across the plate then claiming to be under grace and that it is ok....

How does the Holy Spirit get anything done when the temple is in such disrepair??

I'm not religious at all because of things like this, my opinion is there is nothing wrong with who you are if it doesn't hurt anybody or affect anyone else, second i feel that religion causes too many problems like this, when all religions define the word hypocritical. if god was good there would be no murder etc etc. so their is no living in 'sin', its in the eye of the beholder. do not be confined by religion do as you please, live a happy life free of thinking about whether every little stupid thing is a sin........

No.

This is a result of a secular food chain based on human greed.

When a truck driver has to have a hazardous materials endorsement to haul soft-drinks, what does that tell you???

Good food (fruits, veggies) is too expensive for the average person.

Enjoy life!

God bless!

I have asked this to my priest and there was a pastor or priest on tyra and the same question was asked. They also thought it was gluttony (however it is spelled) and that is not true. Gluttony is when you are so greedy you eat it just so someone else can't.

But I think that could be true that you are not treating your body like a temple. It could also be said if you use drugs, drink more than one or two beers or glasses of wine at a time, take certain presc. drugs that have side affects, or if you have and eating disorder (overeater, anorexia, bulimia) and many more.

I think what god is refering to is getting rest, taking care of yourself in general.. we all cannot treat our body perfect.

Being obese can actually be a medical condition where they do work out and do eat right but their thyroid is off , or maybe they have a disorder that includes being an extreme overeater.

I also have wondered what about those people that don't work out and eat horrible food for them.. but they stay skinny. They aren't healthy, they get sick often, they are pale and are out of shape.. some chubby (not obese) but chubby people would be better off than them.

Anyways.. this is interesting so here's a star!

This is one of the seven deadly sins: gluttony. Technically, it is a sin, even though it is not directly mentioned, sort of like smoking. Basically, anything you do that causes harm to your body is wrong. It is probably the most committed sin in all of Christendom.

But it still boils down to choices we make. It is a person's choice not to sin. Living in sin is basically an unmarried couple living together so you should word your question correctly, especially if you want to be insulting. Sin is the transgression of the law and the law is the 10 commandments so where is being obese a sin? Maybe by society standards since so much emphasis is placed on having a toothpick body. You shouldn't sit back throwing sticks and stones.

I don't think so necessarily. I just believe that they are damaging themselves and bringing about the possibility of developing serious health problems due to their lack of control

It is a sin to over-indulge in most anything, including food. That's why christianity preaches against alcohols and nicotine and things like that. So yes, they are considered sinners, but aren't we all.

Yes, this is true. I am not obese but I am over weight. I tend to over eat and this is a sin. Gluttony. I fall short of the goal daily but through the grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I am forgiven and saved. Thanks for pointing this out. Peace be with you my friend.
