I’m assuming since you live in a dorm you have a meal plan with the school. I have the same problems. What I do is mix an match the foods. Say if one food stations is serving stir fried chicken, you can see if they will give you just the chicken and put it on a salad. Don’t fall into eating burgers every meal, and don’t settle for salads every meal either. With some creative thinking, you’ll manage.

If you buy from the school then get a deli sandwich w/o the bread or wrap. Those are carbs which is energy but eat chicken/tuna etc(protein). Take protein shakes.

Try the poor man’s chicken ******… Tuna. Its loaded with protien, almost no fat and no carbs. A lil lemon juice and some imagination and you can’t even tell the difference, hehe.

Oh man I feel for you. I had (and still have that problem). Unfortunately eating healthy costs quite a bit of loot sometimes so you may need to ‘healthier’ but its not the healthiest you can eat. For starters, start buying spinach and broccoli. You can eat them raw or boil them, which is pretty damn easy. If boiling is accesible, buy pasta which will help you out alot and is damn cheap. Then there is fruit, but it can be expensive depending what you buy, how much of it you buy, and if you let it rot or eat it. I hope this can help, but I cant make any more reccomendations if your broke and have no cooking arrangements. My only other suggestion is getting friendly with a group of females that can cook. That has multiple benefits.

You can get Peanut Butter-good source of protein and lowering Cholesterol, Canned Salmon and Tuna Fish-both good Protein but Salmon is the better source and also both are high in Omega 3 Oils. Can always get packaged or whole(cheaper than packaged)chicken . Get low-fat Hellman’s Mayo for the salmon and tunafish sandwiches or toss with pasta-cook spagetty any pasta noodles and mix in tuna fish or the salmon with the low fat Hellman’s Mayo and season salt and pepper to taste. Can also get salmon cakes, patties etc but the cheapest is the canned apprc $2.00 for a good sized can. Since you also want.need some veggies-fresh Broccoli is cheap and can be quick cooked in micro esp if you have a fresh vegetable setting. Salmon/Tuna Fish tossed with Pasta and fesh Broccoli is a cheap but very healthy meal and also has a good Protein to Carb ratio beneficial to working out. Peanut Butter Sandwiches are also healthy esp the low-salt and are filling. Most fresh Vegetables can be cooked quickly in the microwave and buying fresh-season yourself- and are cheaper than frozen.Canned I would avoid except Corn and Beans for too much salt. All Beans are good esp Kidney-highest source of Protein in the Bean Family but eat all Pinto are healathy too. You probably have access to a library go get a book on simple healthy cooking for one esp microwave and steaming an copy the recipes, intructions that are helpful to you or go to a USED Bookstore where you can get cheap and have for a guide and a quick reference. You’ll Find that cooking/preparing meals fresh is actually Cheaper than fast food and of course, much healthier Go to to guide to microwave meals and more-did a search on Healthy quick meals and found many sites-doing a search be well worth your time for can download/copy recipes etc

Hi Chris,
I don’t know what you mean by limited…
If you can cook, then try rice, and some lentils, you can put it along with some herbs and steam it together, Indian, style to make something called Khichdi. straight forward cooking, no mess and no work…, Gives you both carbs and protiens. Do remember to add a potato and a few pieces of vegetables, just to make it interesting…
Try some soya bean recipes, and if possible, see if you get soya chunks, you can do some creative stuff with that, and it tastes like meat, if you do it right…
Try ready to cook meats or chicken, stuff that is ready to fry or bake or microwave.
Also, remember to eat 2 or 3 bananas a day. Its got large quantities of minerals in it that is really good for you and ofcourse it is amazing for building body/muscle mass!
In your really lean times, try things like Cup Noodles (instant), with some chopped veggies or salad…
Never skip the vegetables. It gives you minerals, vitamins and the all important fibre.
