Trish asked:

Depends how cold the temperature is outside, and how insulated the vehicle is, Example; where i am at it currently reaches -30 to -40 degrees Celsius with windchill which is cold enough to give you frostbite in 2 minutes. You have to take into account all the variables.

I’ve gone winter camping and survived minus temperatures. If he has the right equipment he can do it. You may very well be right about his motives for telling you this, however.
