Am I living a healthy lifestyle?

Just Me asked:

I am 16, and am 5′8.5 , and weight around 154 pounds. I don’t have a belly, as I am working on the abs. I only eat a small breakfast (usuallycereal), don’t eat lunch, and then eat an average dinner (such as spaghetti). I am athletic, I play basketball. I drink too much 0% milk, water, and sometimes soda. I rarely eat fast -food nowadays. I was just wondering if I am living a healthy lifestyle.

It’s good you play sports, but you should really eat lunch and a full fibre breakfast. Your body metabolisme needs the food to burn up for energie.

Do you really have to ask? I think you already know the answer.

Breakfast should ideally be the largest meal of the day to provide fuel for the day. Unfortunately in our current civilisation this rarely happens.

You should also eat 6 small meals a day, and many people, myself included, advise avoiding carbs after 4pm.

I would suggest eating a bigger breakfast, make sure you have a good healthy lunch, and have a small evening meal of grilled meat and salad or fish and salad.

When you skip meals, you body gears itself for famine and slows the metabolism, which is not what you want.

At your age, you can get away with it, but as you get older (and that happens to us all) you will find it harder. Develop GREAT eating habits NOW and they will last you a lifetime.

I think you need to eat more; especially if you are athletic.

Well, you might not be living in a healthy lifestyle for what i think. Your healthy lifestyle that you want is to ensure no illness in your future right? It seems that what you lack is eating fruits.(or you might have lack out that you take in fruits.) The sentence ”I rarely eat fast-food nowadays” also mean that you tend to eat fast food in the past right? i suggest that its okie to eat a little fast food and food that you want to eat once in a while. This will make the life more enjoyable as forcing yourself not to eat food that you like in the past might cause depress. Moreover, you should take your lunch if possible. This is because lunch helps you to replenish your stamina and there is one study that says having lunch will help you boost your mental skill and concentration whereas if you do not take lunch it will have a vice versa effect. Well, I’m sixteen too, i believe that you are going to take college entrance exam too. So good luck and stay a healthy lifestyle. =) Let’s cheer for a pass in our college exam~

Healthy? I’m a mom so I’d say not so much. You have next to no vegetables and a protein deficit.

Still better than eating fast food at every meal. Do some adjusting, focus on vitamin/mineral rich foods. Avoid soda.
